Preparing young children for school readiness and for school readiness and future riding success.
Our Preschool Equine Development Program is a unique early childhood learning experience designed to help young children build the foundational skills needed for school readiness, personal confidence, and future horseback riding success.
Developed by an occupational therapist with assistance from education professionals, experienced riding instructors, and early childhood educators, this program supports children in developing essential skills aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills early learning standards for pre-school, including:
Children learn through guided interaction with horses and structured learning modules focusing on horses and development learning. Children will participate in guided hands-on farm experiences in a calm, supportive outdoor environment.
While many young children feel a strong connection to horses, safe and successful riding requires important developmental foundations. Our program helps children to master these skills first, ensuring they are fully prepared for future riding lessons when the time is right.
Led by an experienced teacher and supported by our experienced farm team including an occupational therapist, this program provides individualized attention in small group and private settings.
In addition to preparing children for future riding, we believe that parents will find that the skills developed here help support readiness for kindergarten and early elementary school

Q- Is this a riding lesson?
A – Not in the traditional sense. Our Preschool Horse Farm Experience is much more than a traditional riding lesson. We use horses, farm life, and nature as engaging tools to help children develop confidence, curiosity, independence, and important life skills. Most children will have an opportunity to ride, but riding is only one part of the overall experience.
Q- How does this program prepare my child for riding horses?
A – Rather than beginning with formal riding instruction that is suited to older children, we focus on building the developmental skills that naturally lead to riding success. Our program meets your child at their level. Through engaging in horse and farm experiences and specially planned activities, children strengthen balance, coordination, communication, attention, confidence, and self-regulation while developing a love for horses and learning.
Q – What will my child be doing?
A – Each visit is designed around hands-on learning and may include grooming horses, meeting farm animals, nature exploration, simple riding experiences, horse safety, games, stories, sensory activities, and farm chores appropriate for young children.
Q- Why is this program different?
A – Our philosophy is to help children develop the skills they need not only for future horseback riding, but also for success in everyday life. Activities are thoughtfully planned to encourage:
These developmental foundations help prepare children for riding lessons, kindergarten, and many of life’s future learning experiences.
Q – How are small groups organized?
A – Our small group experiences are designed primarily for children who already know one another, such as homeschool groups, playgroups, church groups, neighborhood friends, or other organized groups of 3–6 children. This creates a relaxed, familiar environment where children can learn together while strengthening existing friendships.
Please contact us before registering so we can schedule a date and time that works well for your group.
Q -Does my child need horse experience?
A – No. No previous horse or farm experience is required. Our program is designed especially for beginners, and every activity is adapted to each child’s age, abilities, and comfort level.
Q – Will I be staying with my child?
A – Yes. A parent or caregiver accompanies each child while they are in the program. This helps young children feel confident and secure while allowing families to enjoy learning together.
Please fill out the inquiry form below if you would like more information, and follow the instructions to register your child in one of our classes.
We look forward to meeting you and your child!
